Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil Among Wolverhampton Wanderers Head Coach Candidates
Edwards together with O'Neil both have past links with Wolves
- PublishedJust moments ago
Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.
The previous coach was sacked on the weekend following the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.
And both candidates - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.
The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.
However the ex- Luton manager - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.
The mid-career manager is said to have support from the Wolves directors as they start the process of hiring a fresh head coach.
Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by the club in December last year.
The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means the club would not be required to pay any compensation.
