Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
